Steve Onyendinazu has 31 years of cognate and quality work experience, out of which over 17 years quality experience was garnered in the Financial Services industry, obtained at the following institutions: Nigerian French Insurance(now AIICO), First Bank Plc, FSB International Bank, Commercial Bank Credit Lyonnais, Access Bank and Bank PHB. Steve obtained B.Sc Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos in 1992 and M.Sc Marketing from the same university in 1996. Mr. Onyendinazu has attended many courses on Management, Leadership and Financial Services, etc. both locally and abroad, and he is a member of many professional bodies in Investment Banking and Risk Management (especially the Global Association of Risk Professionals- GARP) and takes special interest in developmental and trade finance as vehicles for rapid expansion of the domestic economy. His core Professional Leaning comprises Risk Management, Corporate Banking, Actuarial Science, Law and his Key Strength lies in his Exceptional Financial Analysis & Loan Workout Skills.
Steve has a meteoric rise in his career. He started his career in the Financial Services Industry in 1994 as a freshman Actuary in the Group Life & Pension Department of defunct Nigerian French Insurance Ltd – Now merged into AIICO Ltd, where he rose to become Head of Unit before his exit in 1995. He joined the services of First Bank Plc later that year and up to 1997 was engaged in various aspects of the Branch Commercial Banking Operations before his exit to the Corporate Banking Group of legacy FSB International Bank Plc in third quarter of 1997. He rose through the corporate ladder to Head the Conglomerates & General Trading Unit in the Corporate Banking Group of the Bank before his switch to Platinum Bank in 2003 where he was the Deputy Head Corporate Banking Group.
Steve left Platinum Bank in 2004 for Legacy Capital Bank Ltd (former CBCL) as Head of the Services & Transportation Group overseeing client Segments as Aviation (Air France etc), maritime & allied operations (AP Moller Group etc) and service companies in oil & Gas, dredging, and other operators. Later he was redeployed to head the Construction & Telecoms Group of the Bank where he oversaw relationships including major GSM network operators and fixed wireless operators e.g. MTN & Starcomms, multinational construction companies, quarrying companies before the merger of the Bank with Access Bank in 2005.
He joined Bank PHB in 2006 as Group Head Services & Transportation, in the Corporate Banking Division of the Bank where he created an enviable portfolio of maritime, aviation and industrial client base before opting to man the newly formed Loan Workout Group in the fledging Asset Remedial Management Division of the Bank. During his tenure as bank-wide Head of Loan workout Group, he had responsibility to turnaround a troubled loan portfolio in excess of N200billion to performing assets within a very short time frame. This assignment engaged his attention through the tenure of the legacy management and that of the CBN appointed board prior to opting to disengage from the Bank in February 2010 to pursue private practice in Consulting and Debt Management.
